• Learn how to use the free version of EndNote - EndNote Web! Discover how easy it is to keep track of your sources, import your references into Word documents and share your sources with others using web-based EndNote Web.  This workshop is hands-on and very interactive.  The session includes approximately 30 minutes for a follow-up Question & Answer period.

• Learn the basics about this free web-based citation management tool, which you can use to save citations and pdfs, as well as incorporate citations into a Word document.  In this session we will cover how to set up a Zotero library, how to put citations into your library, how to use Word to cite as you go, and how to back up your data.

• Collecting data for your thesis or dissertation?  Learn to manage your data effectively and efficiently!   This seminar will provide an introduction to capturing, storing, and describing research data throughout the life of the research project and after.   This is intended for those researchers who need help with a data management plan or for those who are just beginning a data management plan.  The discussion will cover granting agencies’ requirements, how to fulfill them and how it is to the researcher’s advantage to do so.

• Love the writing but hate formatting those citations?  Wrapping up your thesis or dissertation this spring or summer?  Learn to use basic but powerful features of the reference management tool, EndNote.  In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn to setup an EndNote library, save references and pdfs, automatically create and edit a bibliography, and prepare a document for publishing.  This workshop is intended for novice EndNote users and is intentionally slow-paced and very interactive.

• This session is intended for graduate students and faculty who have identified a research topic. Practical guidance and tips for submitting high quality study proposals will be provided. The format will be open discussion and any questions related to the IRB process are welcomed.

• The Graduate School and OSU Libraries team up to bring you the information you need as you prepare to submit your thesis or dissertation for final approval. The Graduate School Thesis Editor will walk you through the thesis and dissertation submission requirements and answer questions about thesis formatting, deadlines and other issues. The Digital Scholarship Librarian will share the latest information regarding the fair use of copyrighted materials in your research, your rights as an author and the implications of making your work openly available via ScholarsArchive@OSU.

• Are you curious about what those impact factor and h-index numbers really mean?  Do you want to know about a variety of ways to quantify how much impact your publications and research have?  Come learn about some traditional (JCR) and new ways (Google Metrics, ScholarsArchive, ORCID and altmetrics) to measure your research impact, explore how you can use this information to demonstrate and find research connections, and become more informed about your choices within the abundant and growing number of publication impact metrics and tools.

• This is a grant searching (not a grant writing) workshop. We will discuss the many ways in which graduate students are supported at OSU and also explore search tools and techniques for locating external support.

All workshops are in the Autzen Classroom on the 2nd floor (main floor) of the Valley Library (unless otherwise noted).
