Sociology Books
Search online catalogs (and 1Search) by author, title, keyword, subject, etc.
Subject searching: The most effective subject searching utilizes the Library of Congress Subject Headings. A copy of this set of books can be found at the Information Desk on the main floor of the Valley Library.
Keyword searching: Look for specialized sociology dictionaries and thesauri to find terms you can use to build a keyword or subject search.
Locating by call number: Many sociology materials fall into the "H" call number ranges and are located on the 5th floor of The Valley Library. Other materials may be classified in Psychology (BF, on the 6th floor) or Political Sciences (J - JX, on the 5th floor).
If OSU doesn't have the book you want, you can locate and request books from other libraries using the Summit catalog. Easiest way: in the OSU catalog, click the Try Summit Libraries button. Alternatively you can go directly to the Summit catalog here. With one search, this catalog presents results from the collections of regional academic library catalogs (indicated by the heading Held by: Summit), followed by results from libraries around the world (Held by: WorldCat Libraries). Summit requests generally arrive within 3 working days; ILL often takes longer, so request through Summit first if available.
