Data.Gov  A new government statistical Web site that makes available machine-readable data sets generated by the executive branch of the federal government. The purpose of Data.gov is to increase public access of these high value, machine readable datasets. Still a work in progress, so check back often. [NOTE: this resource may be eliminated next year, due to budget deficit reductions that are currently being negotiated; see: http://newsbreaks.infotoday.com/NewsBreaks/Got-Government-Data-Not-Any-More-74860.asp]

GSS: General Social Survey. http://www.norc.org/GSS+Website/
From the National Opinion Research Center (NORC), funded by the National Science Foundation. A standard "core" of demographic, behavioral, and attitudinal questions. Many questions have remained unchanged since 1972 to facilitate time-trend studies. A unique and valuable resource, GSS has tracked the opinions of Americans over the last four decades. (Some facility with data files is recommended, although pre-generated tables are available.)

State of Oregon Statistics

Data.Oregon.gov  Oregonians want more access to data collected and stored by Oregon's state and local government agencies. In response, Oregon launched the Data.Oregon.gov website to provide Oregonians the ability to view, search, sort, filter, download or build applications to access public data; customisable to a remarkable degree!

Find Census 2010 data for the state at the Oregon Census State Data Center, http://www.pdx.edu/prc/census-2010-data-oregon, part of the Population Research Center at Portland State University. Includes state, county, and city information, comparison of 2000 and 2010 Census tracts, Census redistricting data summary file, and more. This is also where to find links to the annual population estimates that PRC reports to the national bureau, and much more.
