Guides for researching campus history
We have several great pages on our web site dedicated to researching campus life and history. From students to staff, buildings to courses -- we've got you covered.
Departmental and University Changes
Researching campus history can be a challenge! Major changes occurring at the Department, College, School, and University levels are common, but you can navigate the choppy waters of organiational change using many of the same strategies you would to start any historical research project.
- To find basic level information, such as name changes, consult the General Catalog in the Archives Reference Section or the “OSU Chronological History” online.
- Accessible with Archives’ staff assistance, the Memorabilia Collection and related Institutional Records will generally have useful information.
- In addition to the resources above, the development of the Baccalaureate Core can be found in RG 22 Acc 93:019.
Above all, remember to think like a journalist (who, what, when, why, where, how) and keep good notes of names associated with dates associated with people.
