A good place to start for a general overview of key concepts in cultural anthropology, including topics such as aging, marriage, and sexual division of labor.
Encyclopedia of Social and Cultural Anthropology (GN307 .E525 1998eb) : an e-book with up-to-date entries on all aspects of cultural and social anthropology.
Encyclopedia of World Cultures (REF GN307 .E53 1991) :
Includes a section on Kinship, Marriage and Family for most of the cultural groups covered.
Marriage, Family, and Relationships: a Cross-Cultural Encyclopedia (REF GN480 .B76 1994) :
Helpful for a general overview of the main anthropological concepts of kinship and family.
Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life (REF GN333 .W67 1998)
Includes a section on Interpersonal Relations for each of the groups covered.
Other ways to gather background information include: searching the library catalog with a subject plus a keyword such as encyclopedia or dictionary; looking in general encyclopedias like Encyclopedia Britannica; and even reading some Wikipedia entries (but realize these can be unreliable and should not be used as a final source, only as a lead to more reliable scholarly sources).
