1) If you have a citation and want to find out if OSU Libraries has a subscription to the periodical:
a) Search OSU Libraries e-journals to look up the title of the periodical. If you find an electronic copy of the periodical, navigate to the the volume, issue and page number to retrieve the full-text of the article
b) If you don't find the periodical title in the e-journals list, search by periodical (journal) title in OSU Libraries Catalog.
c) if neither work, and you have a few days lead time, request an article from Interlibrary Loan (registration required the first time you use it).
2) If you want to search articles by topic, chooose an article index (database) to help you identify potentially relevant articles. You could start with one of the general databases covering a broad range of academic topics.
example:
1) There is a study room in the library dedicated for Honors College Students' use. Check out the key from one of the SLUG staffers and use the study room for 4 hours, or overnight if the timing is right.
2) Honors College Students have the same library check-out rights as graduate students - OSU Library books check out for 90 days, with 3 renewals. Bound journals check out for 3 days with no renewals.
You can find out if OSU Libraries has a book for you by searching the OSU Libraries Catalog
If you don't find what you need there, try the Summit Catalog. Summit searches over 30 academic libaries in Oregon and Washington. Books requested from Summit can be delivered to OSU Libraries within 3 business days.
If that doesn't work - try using WorldCat - a catalog of thousands of worldwide libraries. From inside the WorldCat catalog, you can submit an Interlibrary Loan Request by clicking a link. However you need to be registered for Interlibrary Loan for that to work.
