OSU Catalog
The OSU catalog lists all the books held in the Valley Library or storage.

Summit
The Summit catalog lists books at other regional libraries that can be retrieved for you and delivered within 3-5 business days.

WorldCat
WorldCat lists books that are available at other libraries in the United States, and sometimes in other countries. If you find a book you want, fill out an interlibrary loan request and the book will delivered to the library (and you'll be sent an email alerting you to its arrival). This service usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Journals, Magazines, and Newspapers

There are two general ways to find journal, magazine, and newspaper articles.

1) You can search the libraries' online databases such as Business Source Premier which covers full text articles from business journals, magazines, and newspapers. You can search by keyword, author, subject, title, etc. Please note that not all of the business journals the library subscribes to are found in this database (see #2).

LexisNexis Academic Full text articles from international and US national, state and local news sources, as well as specialized business and industry information.

2) If you know the title of the journal you are looking for search the library catalog. For further explanation view this screenshot that shows an example of how to search for the journal title "Business Horizons".

Harvard Business Review To search within this publication choose "Search within this publication" which is located in the light-green colored bar in the upper right portion of the page (click here for example screenshot).

University Information

Finding information about universities can be tricky, even though it's publicly available. Use the following suggestions (but if they don't work for you, don't hesitate to contact your librarian, Laurie Bridges, for assistance).

Visit the university's homepage.
If the university has an Institutional Research office, it will provide a wealth of information; to find out, visit the university homepage and type "Institutional Research" into the searchbox (hopefully they have one).

Try to locate a Visitors link.
On the Visitors page look for links labeled facts, information, or frequently asked questions.

When all else fails find a phone number for the university Admissions office. Admissions personnel are well-versed on all aspects of the university and should be able to direct you to the appropriate department or website.

Mint Global Information about private and public companies in the U.S. and Europe.

LexisNexis Academic

Choose Business in the top toolbar.
Type in the company name or ticker symbol to search for a Company Dossier. Hit search. Select the company you are interested in researching.
Somewhere on the results page you'll find a box labeled "Key Competitors" (most likely in the lower-right)

Business Source Premier Click on Company Profiles in the right hand navigation bar to view Datamonitor Company Profiles

Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage Choose "Companies" from the top menu bar (includes only companies in the S&P 500).

Google Finance lists "Related Companies" in each company profile.
