      <title>Course Description</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;This course covers writing from across North Africa and the Middle East: early forms of oral literature, the pre-Islamic poetry from the Arabian peninsula, chronicles about the Crusades, as they were experienced by the inhabitants of the Middle East, and contemporary short stories f contemporary short stories.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The main goal of this course is to introduce students to literature set in a wide range of countries in the Middle East.&amp;nbsp; In addition to this geographic range, the course will also introduce students to various genres of literature including traditional poetry, historical chronicles, folk tales, and contemporary fiction.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
